March 1, 2024: The month of February 2024 is behind us!

In a society where information is a universal aspiration and a must, strides in collecting, documenting, and analyzing key successful activities, especially within Kinyara Sugar Limited, remain key. This collection of activities plays a vital role in the promotion of cohesion among us by identifying the good outcomes and raising awareness.

In the course of the month of February 2024, we recollect some activities in sports, visits, sponsorship, and tours took place within and outside Kinyara Sugar Limited (KSL).

Kinyara Sugar Limited Constitutes an Occupational Safety and Health Committee

Kinyara Sugar Limited (KSL) established an Occupational Safety and Health Committee.

Kinyara Sugar Limited Safety and Environment Superintendent Moses Eriku Enzama chairs the 16-member committee, which is deputized by Sanyu Justine, a mechanical engineering instructor at the Kinyara Sugar Limited Training Centre.

Kawala Martha, who manages Kinyara Sugar Limited General Stores in Masindi, serves as the secretary.

The members of the 16-person advisory group were chosen based on their knowledge and experience in occupational safety and health, as well as the department or section where they work at Kinyara Sugar Limited.

An Occupational Safety and Health Committee comprises of workers (employees) and management representatives.

“Thank you, organizers, who made this a success, the managers and staff. I urge you all to work as a team in order to be successful,” General Manager Ravi Ramalingam said at the closing ceremony of the Occupational Safety and Health Committee launch.

The committee is now tasked to come up with working tools on occupational safety and health for Kinyara Sugar Limited in the next few months.

Kinyara Sugar Limited attends Jane Goodall inception meeting at Masindi Council hall

Jane Goodall invited stakeholders from the Budongo and Kabango town councils to an inception meeting in Masindi, including Kinyara Sugar Limited.

The meeting was called to introduce a three-year project in Kabango and Budongo Sub County that aims to improve people's livelihoods through tree planting and beekeeping, as well as the sustainable use of forest reserves, wetlands, and water.

The program targets 2000 community members by planting one million trees in three years and offering beehives to beneficiaries from 20 schools in the Kabango town council and Budongo sub county, Masindi district.`

At the Masindi council hall, representatives from business and government, local leaders, politicians, and technical experts gathered.

Aldon Walukamba, Kinyara Sugar Limited's Communications Manager, attended the meeting and presented the organization's efforts in education, forest, wetland, sustainable water use, and conservation in the Waaki catchment area, Kasokwa wetlands in Budongo sub-county, and Kabango town council.

Masindi Prisons receives sports donations from Kinyara Sugar Limited

On Monday, February 26, 2024 Kinyara Sugar Limited paid a courtesy visit to the Masindi prison.

On Monday morning, shortly after coming from Budongo Sub County for other Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Aldon Walukamba, the communications manager, visited Masindi Prisons.

He was given footballs, netballs, and volleyball balls to help strengthen the rehabilitation and restoration program at Masindi Prisons.

The program is part of Kinyara Sugar Limited's CSR initiative.

It resulted with Masindi Prisons officials' request for assistance in promoting inmate sportsmanship, which was then approved by Kinyara Sugar Limited General Manager Ravi Ramalingam.

Addressing the Masindi Prisons Officials, the Communications Manager, Aldon Walukamba, remains committed to the cause of spreading and taking beautiful games and sports to the communities, inmates included.

Communications Manager Aldon Walukamba observed with concern the immense talent (players, referees, and administrators) that some of the inmates are endowed with.

There are quite a number of young, energetic, and talented players who can serve in different clubs and communities after completing their sentences. Kinyara Sugar Limited donated an assortment of items to further help in the development of the games and sports at Masindi Prisons and called on other partners to join the cause.

Agricultural experts reach out to Sugarcane Out growers

Kinyara Sugar Limited's Agriculture Department continues to educate farmers on better agricultural and agronomical practices.

In February, the teams went to Kakwese, Murro, Kadukulu II, Kimanya, Kikuube, and Mihembero parishes in Masindi district.

Senthil Kumar, the Out Growers Manager, urged sugarcane farmers to follow agreed-upon growing techniques while implementing agronomic practices that will boost production and productivity on their farms.

Kinyara Golfers shine at the 2024 Venus Open Tournament

In the serene surroundings of the Tooro Golf Club, the 2024 Venus Golf Open witnessed a captivating display of talent, camaraderie, and friendly competition.

While seasoned golfers showcased their prowess across the greens during the amateur category, Kinyara Golf Club, represented by six (6), truly stole the show by securing podium slots.

Moses Eriku Enzama (Kinyara Golf Club captain) led the team alongside Charles Margach, the committee financial secretary. They were in the company of senior golfer Henry Byaruhanga, William Draku Gayo, and Aldon Walukamba, Kinyara Sugar Limited Communications Manager.

The event transcended mere skill while emphasizing the sheer enjoyment of the game.

CEOs, camera operators, professionals, businessmen, bank executives, and brand ambassadors—all armed with clubs and determination—gathered to vie for their titles.

Each team, a unique fusion of seasoned golfers and courageous non-golfers, added its own distinct flavour to the game.

Kitara FC tops Uganda Football Premier League 2023/2024

Kinyara Sugar Limited sponsored Kitara FC currently leads the Uganda Premier League table with 39 points from 19 games.

Thank you, to the team's players and scorers, particularly:

Dennis Omedi (10 goals), Jude Semugabi, and Paul Mucureezi (5 goals each). Others include Living Kabon (4), George Senkaaba (3), Brian Ahebwa (3), and Frank Zaga Tumwesigye (1).

Kinyara Sugar Limited sponsored Kitara Football Club to get promoted to the Uganda Premier League from the Big League in 2022/2023 season.

Collins Mukuru wins February 2024 Kinyara Golf Monthly Mug

Collins Mukuru (31) clinched the overall win with 67 net, beating Captain Moses Eriku Enzama (18) on 69, Andrew Oketi (6) on 72 net, and Percy Mpuuga (32) with 72 net.

Each winner was awarded a trophy for keeps and is a contender for the next Kinyara Golf Club outing, if the Kinyara Golf committee and captain deem it fit.

The players competed in three categories: Andrew Oketi won category one, Moses Eriku Enzama won category two, and Percy Mpuuga won category three.

“We need to play at our best and keep fit all the time as golfers at Kinyara Golf Club. This is how we will shade the light of our club and Kinyara Sugar Limited in Uganda,” Captain Moses Eriku Enzama said at the closure of the February 2024 monthly Mug.

The longest drive was won by Charles Margach while the nearest to the pin was won by Henry Byaruhanga. Geoffrey Okot was the most tired player of the competition.

The competition attracted 35 players from five Golf Clubs including Uganda Golf Club, Arua Golf Club, Kilembe Golf Club, Tooro Golf Club and Kinyara Golf Club the hosts.
